Reiterating commitment towards the United Nation’s goals on road safety, Union transport minister Nitin Gadkari said that the government will aim to reduce fatal road accidents by half before the deadline of 2020.

The Minister stated this while inaugurating the World Road Meeting held earlier this month.

Gadkari claimed that the government had already identified 780 black spots on India’s national highways and these will be rectified within the next two years with an investment of Rs. 12,000 crore.

The government also sought support from developed countries to get innovative technology and the best practices to increase road safety in India.
